The rise of DaaS and BYOD has been very beneficial for many businesses. DaaS has given employees the ability to work anytime and anywhere, which has increased productivity. The implementation of Bring-Your-Own-Device programs has decreased the amount the companies spend on IT. While it has been valuable in many ways, this combination of devices and remote workers has created some new challenges.
Work, for many, no longer means 9-5 in an office. Workers are often in the field or working from home and not often in the same physical space or network as their other co-workers so sharing files and information has become a new obstacle. Maintaining file servers and VPNs are cost prohibitive for many. Cloud-based file sharing programs are a low-cost, secure solution to this dilemma. Many can be used as a SaaS application and this ease of use is another factor in the rising popularity.
